Overview & Trends
Set in the South of France, the beautiful Var Region is a perfect year-round cruise call, with cruise facilities including the large city-centre Port of Toulon and magnificently-diverse anchorages for cruise ships located all along the coast, from Bandol to Saint-Tropez.

The "CRUISE TOULON, ST. TROPEZ & THE GOLDEN ISLANDS" destination offers a turnkey solution to rising international demand for original cruise programs - we offer really excellent infrastructures on both a technical and touristic level. That's why more major companies and cruise guests are choosing the Var region every year:
  • 209 calls throughout the Var region in 2002 (recap: 1997 - 90 calls; 1998 - 118 calls; 1999 - 130 calls; 2000 - 160 calls; 2001 - 172 calls)
  • Around 102 500 cruise passengers welcomed in 2002 with around 20 different cruise companies
  • 10 destinations (TOULON, Saint-Tropez, Sanary, Bandol, Porquerolles, Le Lavandou, Croix Valmer, Cavalaire, Sainte-Maxime, Saint-Raphaël)
  • A 10-month season (March through December)

  • Who Calls Where?
Saint-Tropez obviously exerts a strong international pull on prestigious companies with a mostly very wealthy clientele.

PORQUEROLLES, LE LAVANDOU, SANARY, BANDOL, LA CROIX VALMER, CAVALAIRE, SAINTE-MAXIME and SAINT-RAPHAEL attract small, luxury units.

TOULON's high-quality infrastructures make the port ideal for mega ship transit calls. Thanks to its direct links with the European road / rail network and promiximity to Toulon-Hyères airport - catering particularly well for charter flights - the port is a good choice for turnaround and charter operations.
NB : Transit Passengers counted once.
