Ships anchor in the bay and visitors are provided with a tender service to the visitor's pier by the Harbor Master's office. Founded by Catalan and Italian fishermen, Le Lavandou comprises five villages giving onto 12 beautiful sandy beaches - now famous seaside resorts appreciated by tourists from the world over. The town is one of the best locations for water sports along the coast and offers something for everyone, including yachting, windsurfing and scuba-diving. Traditional fishing boats or motor yachts can be hired for full or half days. In September, the town's famous tuna-fishing competition brings together Europe's best fishermen.
