Ships anchor in the bay, with a tender service walk disembarking passengers 5 minutes' from the town center.
Sanary - formerly called "Saint Nazaire" - is a really delightful fishing port. The harbor is filled with typical Provençal fishing boats, locally referred to as ''pointus''. Their cheerful bright colors glitter in the morning sun as the fishermen return with the day's catch.

Today, this pleasant and friendly village, with its narrow streets lined with tall thin houses, is a popular tourist destination. Shopping in Sanary is really fun and in Summer, the harbor buzzes every evening with a colorful market selling all types of craftwork - carved olive wood, leather, paintings, Provençal fabrics, candles, jewelry, etc. A traditional food market is held every Wednesday morning; our best local Chefs go there specially for its fabulous, fresh Provençal produce!
